Korson Homes has built custom homes in Sonoma County since 1999. In 2017 the Tubbs Fire took our own houses. We cleared lots, we fought our own insurance claims, and we rebuilt. If you are starting a rebuild, you are talking to a builder who has already been where you are standing.

All of us at Korson Homes lost our houses in the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Rebuilding and recovering our homeland became personal for us.
That is a different starting point from a contractor who has only read about it. We know what the first site visit feels like, what the paperwork asks for, and how long each part really takes.

The Eaton Fire took a great many homes in Altadena in January 2025. Plenty of those lots are still waiting on a builder, and the owners are being asked to make decisions about debris, plans, permits, insurance and fire-resistant construction all at once.
We went through that in Sonoma County. The agencies have different names and the code has moved on, but the sequence is the same, and knowing the sequence is most of the job.
Altadena is unincorporated LA County, so your permit goes to the County rather than the City. We have set out the permitting, the 110% like-for-like rule and Chapter 7A fire-resistant construction on a page of their own.
